Paul is a problematic employee that has founded and acquired a few companies. Some have been successful, others not. He figured out the hard way that creating businesses is easier than buying them. And somewhere along that journey he hypothesised that shared leadership may be preferable to going it alone. He remains unsure of whether that is true.

Paul attempts to share actionable insights (usually uninvited) on how to improve communication, productivity, and happiness in software engineering teams. Along with the entire team at Patient Zero, he has helped build an evidence-based approach to understanding Developer Experience that encourages everyone to improve agency, have fun, excel, be creative and productive. His day to day involves meeting with customers, helping on teams, and trying to run a company by committee (spoiler – the more diverse the viewpoints, the more joy there is in arguing). He relaxes by spending quality time with his excavator, playing piano and flying his gyrocopter.
